By all accounts, Canadian Dubstep / DnB / Downtempo pioneers GREENLAW would be considered veterans in the world-wide electronic music community. Since their mainstage debut at the world famous Montreal Jazz Festival in the summer of 1999, GREENLAW’s critically acclaimed, eclectic style has taken them around the globe, performing at hundreds events in the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA. Founding members, Skyla J and Ozzie share a belief in a higher power, and infuse their music with a strong sense of personal spirituality.
Much of their original work, created over the past 13 years, is dedicated to the strength of the human spirit. This belief is apparent in their song ‘No Less Of A Star,’ as Skyla writes “Even though our shapes and shades divide us, there’s only one heart that beats inside us, and the rhythm of love will guide us, guide our way home”.
With their signature backpack of wicked beats and positive vibes in hand, GREENLAW’s life on the road led the duo to Leicester, England and Formation Records to record ‘BREAK THE CYCLE’ in the heart of the UK/Europe Indie Drum and Bass / Dubstep scene.
Established in 1989 by Drum and Bass founding father DJ SS (Leroy Small) the Formation imprint was a leading indie electronic label by 1994. The label evolved as worldwide electronic culture grew to include a range of top DJ’s, Producers, and Artists. Label founder DJ SS saw something unique in the Canadian group as he looked to broaden his celebrated production roster. “Right o the top, Skyla J and Ozzies presence on stage grabbed me, and then to hear the soul and power they both brought to their music… I knew they were the perfect project to take Formation to a new level.”
